T.J, Graham
Vocalist
Background T.J. Graham is a jazz singer without fanfare or gimmick,
who uses understatement and considerable subtlety. Born in Buffalo, New York, T.J. knew early on
that jazz was her true passion. In an era when the pop sounds were all the rage
among her contemporaries, T.J. was drawn to such jazz vocal greats as Betty
Carter, Nancy Wilson, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, and Billie Holiday and
big band greats such as Duke Ellington and Count Basie. While T.J. cites these
and other jazz greats as her major influences, she credits jazz vocalists,
Sheila Jordan and Jay Clayton as being her initial inspirations.
She has two CD projects to her credit and has performed and/or recorded with New
York and Memphis-based jazz artists. She
recently fulfilled a lifelong dream to sing with a big band. According to her, the experience has been the crowning glory of her musical endeavors.
